Sometimes there are life experiences that cause us to be having a difficult time. Everyone has those times in life and it is nothing to be ashamed or embarrassed about. My experience enables me to offer effective, individualized, psychological care. I work with a wide range of areas you or your child may be dealthing with right now.
My focus is to help individuals meet their goals. We will achieve this by working together focusing on your strengths. I provide a safe space, listening to your concerns, and customizing your treatment.
I want to help you grow from your struggles that you are having right now and understand that you can gain the tools and insight to conquer them, heal from your pain, and move forward to where you want to be in your life.
My counseling theory and approach is based on the therapeutic relationship, helping individuals facilitate desired change through Motivational Interviewing; a technique that is based on a good rapport, being genuine, being able to empathize with my clients and have a non-judgmental focus while working to help identify areas of desired change. Other types of counseling theories I use are Cognitive/Behavioral and Person-Centered Theories, but have an eclectic style that is very pleasant and accommodating while continuing facilitation of movement toward the client’s desires and dreams for what they want for their lives and what they would like to get out of therapy. The relationship is a valuable tool that works congruently with how willing the person is to work toward their goals. I believe individuals have the capacity to reach their goals and feel hopeful about their lives and their future.
I have worked with trauma resolution, behavioral problems, helping with parent/child conflict and self image and self confidence issues. I have extensive substance abuse experience and work with individuals with depression, anxiety, and individuals that may be having a period of maladaptive situations in their life right now. I have a strong conviction to work with the entire family as part of the treatment regimen when possible to enhance effectiveness that counseling can offer.
Sometimes children need a caring person to talk to. I provide play therapy for children who may be having behavioral problems, difficulties in school , having a hard time with a family situation such as a divorce, or they may be dealing with bullying all of which can cause them to feel depressed, anxious, all alone in a big scary world.
